Reminder: Tonight is the VP Debate lol this should be fucking good.

McCain is probably gonna wear an adult diaper.

When she was first announced polling was at 52% that she was qualified to be President, that has dropped to 37%. Which proves my theory that there are a ton of really fuckin stupid people in this country.

I'm playing LBP with Yuki, but she had stop for a few minutes to handle a mini-crisis at work.  I've been noticing Twitters since the beginning of the VP debate that have just made it sound like a train wreck.  Finally, I read this one:

jephjacques The Sarah Palin debate strategy: if you don't have an answer, change the subject!

and, I felt that this sounded too much like a train wreck to not watch.  I tuned in to hear Palin and Biden's answers to the question about whether the office of VP is in the Executive branch, or as Cheney has tried to imply, the Legislative branch... wow...

She sounds like Miss Teen South Carolina...  Its so embarassing to hear that I can't look at the screen...

Instead of saying anything stupid, like she did in the Katie Couric interview, she just ignored the question and talked about something else when she didn't know how to answer a question.

Is anyone else sick and tired of hearing about how McCain is a "Maverick"? She had to have referred to him as a "Maverick" 15 times in the debate.

It was sad, but not as embarrassing as the Kuric interview ... My notes ...

- My wife and I thought about playing a drinking game for every time she used the word "maverick"

- I clapped out loud when Biden took issue with this fucking "maverick" talk (finally!)

- I was rather shocked (in a good way) when Biden basically told Palin to take her tits off the table with the "Just because I'm not a woman doesn't mean I don't know what it's like to be a single parent" bit and even teared up (but didn't cry!) ... I think that shook Palin up a bit too ...

- Enjoyed Joe Biden referring to himself as "Joe Biden"

- Joey B answered the questions with specifics. You could agree with them or not, but they were specific and well thought-out. Sarah P, not so much. She seems to be stuck in "sound bite" mode and re-hashing a lot of the same stuff we've been hearing during radio interviews, the RNC meeting, etc. Oh, and "maverick".

- As expected, he mopped the floor with her on foreign policy. She actually tried to bizarrely turn that question on Iraq into something she had done as major (!) in Alaska? Say wah?!

- She (and McCain before her) tried the "they'll raise your taxes!" scare tactic and as I'm saying out loud (I talk to myself quite a bit) "Don't let her get away with that shit Joe!" Joe responded with "That's not true, let me tell you what is ..." and went on to explain (several times actually) that O-Bam-Bam and Joey B. will actually LOWER taxed on 95% of American families. The 5% that they would leave as is or raise? Bastards making over $2M. Oh, and he noted that even the tax rates on them wouldn't be any higher than they were 20 YEARS AGO under Lord Reagan.

- Did I mention she failed to outline a single proposal or plan past "maverick clean up Washington maverick maverick raise your taxes! maverick" ..?

- Palin made a MAJOR goof when she admitted to only being in this campaign for 5 weeks and not having really promised anything to Americans (read: has no plans or ideas).

- Loved Joey B. getting her to admit to supporting gay rights (which she doesn't since it would kill her Jesus-loving base). Her answers was "I wouldn't prohibit them from having their rights" Joe's was "I SUPPORT their efforts to establish their civil rights as it is in our Constitution to do so" ... Neither support actual gay marriage, but Joe was able to get her to say something I'm pretty sure her base isn't going to be happy with.

Maverick

I hope people call her to task for not actually answering questions. She sounded like she just got out of a cram session in college and can accurately repeat back what she just read in a textbook. The people that get all giddy about her make me

I couldn't watch it.
I can't stand her voice and floatyness.
He just babbles.

I have been listening to some of the post debate coverage and it sounds like she didn't do horrible (MSNBC said she stopped the bleeding) but there is no way I can listen to that voice and that accent for more than a minute.

I said something to my wife at one point along the lines of "I wish they would toss a voice modulator on her, she sounds like a Northern red-neck ..."

The press is being EXTREMELY kind to her. She was in fact horrible. If this were any man they'd be ripping him apart of lack of substance, never answering the questions put forth in the debate, over-use of "folksy" talk and general poor form.

She seems like a nice enough woman, get her a reality show or something, but keep her the fuck away from the White House for the love of God!

Biden didn't really babble, he stayed pretty much on point and managed not to talk-down to her or call her out on a number of gaffs she made.

At this point, anyone who complains that "no one is really telling them anything" in these campaigns isn't listening. Obama/Biden have given specifics on nearly every issue of the day at every chance they get, the VP debate being no exception. If it's babbling or boring, there's not much you can do about it, but it is what we always claim we want in politicians: answers and a specific plan.

Palin does nothing to add to this debate (the bigger debate of who's best suited to run the country), but McCain at least attempted to answer some specifics (though still fairly general) last week. +2 points for him I guess.

It's a matter of perspective and judgement: do you believe the basic problems of the economy (poor housing market, energy costs, lending failures, etc.) can be repaired by sending aid (be it money or changed policies) to those at the top (businesses, as McCain/Palin support) or to those at the bottom (the middle class, as Obama/Biden support).

I'm done with "trickle down" economics, the rest of the world is laughing at us as we continue to try and make a b.s. economic theory from the 80s work. Rooper is all for "trickle up" ... Help the middle class have more to spend and businesses will benefit without people having to loose their homes, their savings and their jobs.

"A rising tide raises all boats ..."

Stopped the bleeding?  I think not...  If anything, I think news outlets are saying this crap because they want a close race.  It makes for better ratings come Nov 4th.

She literally sounds like that ditzy Miss Teen South Carolina chick.  She couldn't speak intelligently about any question that I saw.  Instead, she would ramble off some buzz words and then divert the question to McCain being a Maverick, talk bout how being a mom connects her to the heartland of America, etc.

She just sounds like a high school student that hasn't properly prepared for an in-class presentation.  She avoids responding to any question directly.  She, frankly, is a prime example of the kind of person that does not belong in politics.  I can not take her seriously when she speaks.  I find myself rolling my eyes not stop.  I may not agree with a lot of McCain's ideas, but I can at least listen to him when he speaks.

Where do they find these people?  If she was an executive of a company everyone would be asking themselves, "Who the hell did she sleep with to get her job?"

About the taxes and economy. I don't believe any of them will do what they are saying they want to do. I DO believe in there basic principles though. McCain will try to protect the wallets of the upper 5% and Obama will try to ease the burden for the rest of us. What they can get passed is another story.

Right now we need this bail out it pisses me off to no end but it has to happen. I hate fuckin banks, they nickle and dime us and lower interest rates on their savings accounts etc.. Wish we could let them fail and start over, they deserve it.

We can't have another 4 years of republican economic policies. And we need to start pulling out of Iraq and shifting more troops to Afganistan, were we should have been all along until Bin Ladin had been captured or killed. i think it's clear which side will do this.

The rest of the issues are just fluff and bullshit. I'm sorry if i offend anyone who is gay but hearing about gay rights gets on my nerves. How many people does this effect really? less then 1% of our population?

Think about it. if everything is 100% guaranteed to happen. Obama wins his economic policies will bring us back to the Clinton years lower taxes, dollar gas etc.., he can pull out our troops saving their lives BUT he is against gay rights. McCain is the exact opposite. You telling me you would vote McCain so you could divorce your partner so you could take half their property legally or get on their insurance?? I say deal with it until the next election when we get this country back on it's feet.

You're completely correct on the gay rights thing, btw ... Kinda like the abortion issue (see emote below) really doesn't effect more than 4% of the country either, but it is a (very) general indicator of where candidates heads are in regard to our Constitution, liberties and tolerance.

< --- Controversial, like the abortion issue

Just a guess here, but something tells me she couldn't get elected to a second term as governor, let alone VP.

Palin questions McCain's concession of Michigan
By JIM KUHNHENN, Associated Press Writer – 1 hr 32 mins ago

SAN ANTONIO – Sarah Palin questioned Republican presidential candidate John McCain's decision to abandon efforts to win Michigan, a campaign move she only learned about Friday morning when she read it in the newspapers.

In an interview with Fox News Channel Friday, the Alaska governor said she was disappointed that the McCain campaign decided to stop competing in Michigan. In an indication that the vice presidential candidate had not been part of the decision, she said she had "read that this morning and I fired off a quick e-mail" questioning the move.

"Todd and I, we'd be happy to get to Michigan and walk through those plants of the car manufacturers," Palin said, referring to her husband. "We'd be so happy to get to speak to the people in Michigan who are hurting because the economy is hurting."

Palin acknowledged the GOP ticket's lackluster poll ratings in the state, but said: "I want to get back to Michigan and I want to try."

Word of the McCain campaign's decision to move staff out of Michigan and stop advertising in the state broke around midday Thursday — the same day as Palin's vice presidential debate against Democrat Joe Biden. The campaign had decided Wednesday night that the $1 million a week it was spending in Michigan wasn't worth it with internal polls showing Democratic nominee Barack Obama approaching a double-digit lead.
