After last year's version, I told myself that I wasn't going to get this year's. I didn't even put in that much time in 10. It was just same old, same old in my opinion.

Buuuuut then the reviews for 11 started. They've been very good thus far, but the one I really wanted to see was Operation Sports, and they freakin love it. For those interested, it looks like gameplay has been mega-improved. My complaints (some having lasted for many years) have mostly been addressed, and now, of course, it has moved to my must have list. I'm so fucking weak.

The review, which is extremely thorough and well done: Operation Sports Review

An excerpt for the lazy:
NCAA Football 11 is the best game in the series since NCAA 06, and it is also the best football game I have played during this console generation. If you are a fan of college football, or you are just looking to relive the glory years of NCAA on the PS2/Xbox, then check this game out. There is really not much more to say: NCAA Football 11 is a blast and will keep the most hardcore sports gamer busy for a very long time.

On the Field: Locomotion and 120 Ways to Win changes how the game is played in a very positive way.

Graphics:Upgraded lighting effects have players, stadiums and even the sky looking beautiful. The ESPN presentation is a huge upgrade but there are some recycled cut scenes.

Sound Design: Herbie and Nessler are just average in the booth. However, the crowds and bands sound great.

Learning Curve: You will have to invest some time to master the new dual-stick controls.

Entertainment Value: This is the best football game of this generation, college or otherwise.

Online: Online Dynasty with Dynasty Anywhere and Dynasty Wire is the perfect integration of social networking and hardcore sports gaming.

Score: 9.0 (Exceptional)

Shipped on: 7/12/2010

After NCAA 09, I didn't even rent NCAA 10 last year.  I only put the game in my Gamefly queue after playing the demo a few weeks ago. Have you played the demo at all?

Anyway, this will hold me over until Madden comes out.  Whether I keep it after that remains to be seen.

I played the demo a bit, Soc. But I didn't put serious time into it. I haven't even turned on a console in 2 weeks.

The Operation Sports review did say that the demo is faster than the real game. This was a plus, as he said that the locomotion feature is truly felt in the slower paced version. But, I guess there are 5 speeds you can actually play with as an option.

I had forgotten that you said you were grabbing it on the PS3. It will be the 360 version for me. I guess we'll see if this review nailed it or not .

Any thoughts thus far? I've still yet to pick it up. Probably get it tomorrow.

So far I like it.

The run game is the best since NFL2k5.  The passing needs some work, though.  There are times on crossing routes and slants where the CB will make the cut before the WR.  It's almost as if the CB is the running the route and the WR is trailing him in coverage.

The controls on defense feel a bit wonky, but I'm adapting to it I guess.  I find it more difficult to grab control of a defender while the ball is in mid flight and attempt a user-pick.

The new hurry-up offense scheme is done excellently.  Giving you access to the full offensive and defensive playbooks in the hurry-up was a long time coming.

I'm running with Michigan, and they are using the spread offense.  I love running the option with Forcier (QB) and Shaw (RB).

Recruiting was made more random and arcadey, but it is for the better.

I'm only on week 4 of my dynasty, but I like it so far.  It's much improved over NCAA 09 (the last one I played).  Depending on how well the demo for Madden plays (comes out July 27th), I'd even consider keeping for this for the season.

I'm right there with you on the running game. LOVE what they've done...from the "left stick" sensitivity (and lack of speed burst button), to the fantastic blocking overhaul that they've finally incorporated. This makes running the ball fun again. SO happy they concentrated on blocking.

Same thing from a defensive perspective. It's now challenging and entertaining to take control of a good DE and see if you can dominate. Makes getting the sack all the more rewarding for sure.

Recruiting I'm a bit on the fence about. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. It's definitely different, and more arcadey as you said, but I'm not sure how I really feel about it. I'm enjoying it though, so it's definitely not bad.

I've had it for a few days now, but I'm already up to the UGA-Florida game. I tend to play the living hell out of NCAA when I get it. But I can tell you that by this time in last year's version, I was already tired of it. At least this year, I'm still fully excited to play each and every game. SO much better in the little things they did to fine tune the gameplay, and presentation is another enormous leap forward.
